a light installation-performance work in progress

8p Jan. 31st, 2026 and 5p Feb. 1st 2026
Please join us for the inaugural public presentation of the multi-spectral light installation for Domestic Light project. The light installation and visual performance use the 2+ years of live color data collected by the nearly 70 Domestic Light collaborators across dozens of time zones and countries worldwide.
Each has hosted a multi-spectral light sensor (able to record every color a person can perceive) in their home tracking the shifting color of light both in their home, and our collective worldwide home from June 2023 through Dec. 2025. This multi-spectral light data tells a story of daily life and shifting weather both physical and internet, technological and social shifts, solar storms, eclipses and nights of working late or rising early, and confirming that dawn does come.

The work in progress features the immersive light installation – set created by Winters to tell this story of light at nearly 70 locations worldwide, making the Earth’s solar orbit visible through a global collaboration.
The work-in-progress features a live light and video event working with these data stories, as well as sound materials collected by sensor hosts. It is a building block toward an immersive light, music and physical performance installations taking place beginning summer 2026.
